There are somethings, some moments in life, which would never become old or loose its value, more you think about it, happier and prouder, it will make you feel..
Everyone says that this teacher in the school or that faculty in the college have made them learn a lot in their lives. But there was one faculty in my college who made me learn one very important thing in life. Every human being in the world has got atleast one good thing to teach you, it can be anything, you just need to explore the opportunity to learn. The most admirable thing about her comes out to be her honesty, one quality which is at the verge of extinction in human beings.
There was this subject called Real time systems for us, and for me it was quiet a lot of fun, for it was something, for which you need brain to apply for, there was nothing to cramm, but everything to understand. Moreover since all the other students were afraid of it, it was a challenge for me to conquer. I never paid attention to what was being said during the lectures, and those who had opened the textbook ever, it was kinda nightmare. They had made a big fuss about it.
The day I opened the book for the first time, I was a little skeptical, because it seemed to contain lots & lots of words and words and words, no diagrams, or problems..i thought its another subject which would suck a lot with lots of things to cramm..
But then when i started going through the content, i found it pretty interesting and it became one of my favourite subjects during engineering. I kinda got a masters in the subject without even listening to anything in the class and with no help at all. Since everyone was afraid of it, it used to boost my level of confidence, will and curiosity for understanding the subject better, because I like doing things which people try to escape from..
Within a few days itself everyone started coming to me to seek tips, tricks and help for the subject. For me the most proud moment was, when one of my faculty, who was pursuing her M.Tech. asked me to teach her the subject. Why proud ? being an undergraduate student, even getting the reuqest to help someone doing post-grads is something in itself. I for once said why are you kidding, you know more than me. She pursuaded, saying that she sill fail the subject if I don't teach her. That made me feel really really proud.
I took around 6-7 classes for her, of about 2 hours each, everytime I used to explain or teach something to her, she used to say, I am not able to understand anything, I would fail the subject. She but I did not loose the hope.
I taught her the best possible way I could, and I was more than confident that she would atleast pass with flying colors. You always are, when you know how you have taught something to somebody, believe me..!!
I do not want to exaggerate anything, but that was my final year in college, which got over, her results were still to come, she thanked me when I left and I wished her all the best and came. Suddenly around after 2-3 months my college got over, she pinged me on facebook, I had almost forgotten but she did not, she told me that the exam results are out and I want to thank you. I was really happy, for my efforts had also succeeded along wiht hers, but what made me even more proud was when she told me that she has not only passed but also topped in the subject. I congratulated her and said I knew this that you know everything and you were just pretending. She said that one sentence which I would probably not forget in my life ever..Both of us know how much I knew and if i would have passed or not. Today if I have topped its only because of you..
Although I taught her the subject, but she taught me how to be modest, how to appreciate someone else's efforts and how to not give more weightage to age than knowledge..
