One very strange thing I have been noticing these years..!!
People say that as we grow up, we become intelligent, get a better & clearer understanding of things, we tend to become more matured. What I have observed is that simultaneously we also become less sensitive & more selfish, more self-centered & self-oriented.
For instance, look at a group of infants, if one cries for some reason, there are more than 100% chances, that all the others would give him/her a company in next 5-10 minutes. Whether they know or not why the other one is sad, they try to share the pain with what/how-ever they can..
Contrarily, if you have ever observed a group of grown up matured people, you would find that if one out of a crowd is sad or in a bad mood, others would either be gossiping about him/her, would insult his injury or would be happy deep within their heart about his misery..As we grow older, we tend to move away from that thin line of humanity.
The other day, I was going to office with my cousin in her car, I saw a gang of really small kids walking down the street in a pretty miserable condition, they looked really poor. I don't know why but I could not look at them, even a sight of them made me feel as, if I would look at them, they would feel that I am mocking at them and making fun of their poverty.
Most people would have maids or servants at their homes, to get their work done. Ok, fine you will have to give them work, so that they may earn their livelihood, but does that also bring along with it the habit of mistreating them? In offices too, I have seen that, if there are servants, people would not do their work at all. They would go around the coffee corner for dozens of times, but would feel ashamed of carrying their used coffee mugs back to the tray of used mugs..
I feel that those people who work for us in some way or the other, are potentially more capable as they do their own work, and carry our lives too on their shoulders..
Today if they belong to an economically weaker section, then its probably because they were not given enough chances to grow the way we did get.
Its easy to become harsh and rude, but its too difficult to become humane, gentle and respect other's dignity, but that's something which would distinguish you from the other ordinary chunk of people ..!!
